In 1756 J. H. moved to Vienna and thanks to his skill attracted the attention of Empress Maria Theresa who sent him (at her own expenses) on a study trip to Italy, where in 1769 he became a member of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. In 1776 he was appointed painter of the imperial court. His paintings are present in various public collections, such as the Museum of Military History in Vienna and in the Royal Palace of Caserta. In the painting stand out the honours, including that of the Golden Toson around the neck. Stunning carved and gilded wooden frame, from a more recent time, in good overall condition, restored, total size: 97. 5 x 83. 5 cm. Please see photos with some auction quotes.
