\Artist: Juan Montesinos Maldonado (1914-1978)
Technique: Oil on canvas\Signature: Hand signed\Dimensions: 54_63_3_cm
Oil on canvas, 46 x 55 cm. It is signed on the lower right corner and it is titled on the back. The frame is not included on the sale, but it will be sent as a gift. Juan Montesinos Maldonado (Úbeda 1914 – Madrid 1978) He belongs to a group of artists who maintained in Madrid a marked independence from the abstract movements that were supported by the Government during the sixties. His most famous painting is crossed with sincerity and loving and morose attention to daily life. Subject-matter where landscape is not the only theme. Figurative and traditionalist subject-matters are abound. He obtained the 1966 Corporaciones Prize at the Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes and he is represented in private collections in Spain, Italy, the United States, Canada and Africa. Twenty years of presence in national exhibitions, such as at Círculo 2 Gallery of Madrid (1972-77) ; Gallery Estudio Cid of Madrid (1975) , in competitions, in biennials, like when he was invited to participate in a exhibition in homage to Picasso and another one in homage to Angels Ortíz. This could not destroy the independent purity of Juan Montesinos. We will always have to remember the intimate Montesinos, his simplified shapes and suggested colour, probably as an evolved memory of the lessons that Cristóbal Ruiz could leave in him. NOTE: The painting will not be sent to Taiwan because it contains wood.
