Rare complete edition of the history of ancient and modern India from 2000 BC to the present day, a work written by Jules Marles and published in Paris in 1828. Within the volumes we find a general account of India told through the analysis of society, customs, politics and general geography. Description of the volumes: 1) (483 pp) in the first volume there is a geographical description of India, population and trade. 2) (424 pp) the second volume describes religion and all that follows: sacred rivers, festivals, sacrifices and idols. 3) (442 pp) in the third volume an analytical report is produced on everything related to the legislation and the ancient history of Hindus until the end of the tenth century of the vulgar era. 4) (468 pp) the fourth volume contains the war stories of the invasion of the Ghaznevides and the kingdoms of Babur and Abker. 5) (452 pp) the fifth volume continues with the history of Emperor Akber and continues with history until the 18th century. 6) (360 pp) the sixth volume concludes the work and covers the modern part of India: internal trade, warnings on currencies, weights and measures, also at the end of the volume there are two beautiful maps concerning India and neighbouring countries. Condition: the work is in good overall condition, the original paperback shows some flaws and small stains, the text is perfectly readable and there are only a few stains and browning, tipped-in maps in excellent condition.
