Jules Stiner Walking Doll.

[ translate ]

This 24" (61cm) 1890's era doll was originally marketed as "Bebe Premier Pas", or in English, "Baby First Step". The bisque socket head has lovely gray-blue paperweight eyes, an open mouth with six upper teeth which are part of the facial mold, and is incised on the back of the head "A-15 Paris". The doll also bears a red stamp reading "Le Parisien, Bte SGDG A15". She is on a uniquely designed body with composition arms, torso, and legs, with joints at the knees, hips, elbows, and shoulders, having straight wrists. The lower torso and upper legs are additionally covered in white leather, and the torso contains a key-wind mechanism. When wound and on/off switch is released, the lower legs walk and the voice box in the torso emits a sound as if talking. The body has original patina. She wears an antique green silk dress with dots and trim, and luckily still retains her original knickers with a cutout spot to perfectly accommodate the protruding key and on/off switch. She has a light brown human hair wig, circa 1960's, over a cardboard pate, black knit socks, and is lacking shoes. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: 24" x 9" x 4".
