MFA Parsons School of Design 2019, BFA Smith College, 2016). Jo’s practice encompasses a distinctive style of oil painting that incorporates a vibrant color palette to render compositions that oscillate between the figurative and the abstract. While born in Seoul, Jo spent her childhood and adolescence moving between South Korea and states across the U.S.; and she draws upon a deep, personal well of moments lost in translation, social miscues and interpersonal distance to inspire her practice. Her paintings are grounded in the self-doubt, conflict, and misunderstanding that can subsume any relationship, with human forms and familiar objects dynamically rendered through careful line, color, and shadow to simultaneously reveal and conceal. In the last year, Jo has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Charles Moffett, New York, NY and James Fuentes, Los Angeles, CA. In the fall of 2023, she will participate in the esteemed Beecher Residency in Litchfield, CT. Her work is in the permanent collections of the Smith College Museum of Art, The High Museum, Maier Museum of Art at Randolph College and ICA Miami.ABOUT THE COALITION FOR THE HOMELESSThe Coalition for the Homeless is the nation’s oldest advocacy and direct service organization helping individuals and families experiencing homelessness. We believe that affordable housing, sufficient food, and the chance to work for a living wage are fundamental rights in a civilized society. Since our inception in 1981, the Coalition has worked through litigation, public education, and direct services to ensure that these goals are realized, and in that time, we have given more than one million homeless New Yorkers a way off the streets.More people are homeless in NYC now than at any time since the Great Depression. The Coalition for the Homeless is there to provide lifesaving relief to thousands of homeless and low-income New Yorkers each and every day -- and its work is more important now than ever before. The challenges facing homeless and at-risk New Yorkers have been exacerbated these past few years as the city grapples with the ongoing housing, economic, and public health crises. But the Coalition remains on the frontlines every day, meeting homeless New Yorkers where they are and fighting for the proven solutions that will bring an end to mass homelessness once and for all.Specific Terms of SaleTo implement an understanding that the Work being sold is for the collection of the Purchaser and to protect the resale market for the artist’s works, and for good and valuable consideration offered and accepted, and except for a donation to a fine art museum, Purchaser agrees that Charles Moffett Gallery (the Gallery) will have the right of first refusal with respect to any desired private sale or other private disposition of the Work, beginning with the date of delivery and continuing for five (5) years after such date, as follows: prior to any sale or other private disposition of the Work, Purchaser must first offer the work to the Gallery in writing detailing the terms and conditions of the proposed good faith sale/disposition.
