In 1852, Julius Assmann founded this watch factory in Glashütte on the advice of F. A. Lange. His son from his first marriage, Paul, joined the company as co-owner in 1877 and ran it independently from 1886 after his father's death.
After A. Lange & Söhne, the Assmann company was one of the most famous companies in Glashütte, producing very good pocket watches of all quality levels and degrees of complication.

Very well preserved three-part white enamel dial. Fine Arabic numerals with continuous minute scales running on the outside in black. Filigree, finely shaped steel hands - gold-colored. Small recessed seconds on the six. Marked J. ASSMANN GLASHÜTTE i/Saxony
Setting the hands using a nail pusher at the eleven and turning the crown at the same time.
Sides worked smoothly.
