Condition: Good condition, the paper sheet old folded in the middle. At the back two small old mounting remains. Tiny trace of powder at lower right.

Description: Julius Lange was a pupil of Johann Wilhelm Schirmer and Karl Rottmann and was able to earn a good reputation in Munich, especially as a landscape painter. King Ludwig II acquired two landscapes for the Neue Pinakothek. According a inscription on the cover of the old portfolio, this one, as well as the remaining drawings by Julius Lange from our collection, originates from the estate of the writer and philosopher Moriz Carrière (1817-1895), who was also born in Hesse and lived in Munich).
