Living in Indonesia often means that you have to be ready to share your space, time and belongings with others. Homes are often crammed. In the front of the painting you see an older woman lying on the sofa, while a woman tries to put her child to sleep -- but she seems to have fallen asleep herself-- on the ground, and another woman sleeps on the edge of another sofa, while a woman stands behind her, and an old man smokes his cigarette next to her. A small boy peeks in. Behind the boy, a man wearing a hat, spectacles and a towel over his shoulders, seems to be stopping in for a chat with a lady next to him. She looks toward the man while holding a cup of a drink. She actually is sitting on a sofa on the left of the painting with a man in a t-shirt, who seems to look nonchalantly at something to the left of the canvas. A few more men can be seen in the hallway towards this fully cramped room. This painting not only talks about the cramped room, but also people’s indifference and ignorance about the matter.
