Literature: KAWS' signature Companion commemorates the artist’s largest sculptural project to date. As part of his global tour ‘KAWS: HOLIDAY,’ the American artist erected an inflatable Companion at the foot of Japan’s Mount Fuji. At almost 130 feet long, visitors flocked to catch a glimpse of the cartoon behemoth. To memorialize his monumental endeavor, a trio of smaller Companions were produced. The miniature Companions replicate their larger compatriot’s stance, languidly reclining, one gloved hand behind his head, the other resting atop his torso. The Companion’s signature XX visage and cartoonish ensemble is replicated in colorways of grey, black, and brown.
