Kindel Furniture Company (American, founded 1901), 20th century. Winterthur Collection mahogany Updyke family Rhode Island secretary desk and bookcase after the original by the Goddard and Townsend family of cabinetmakers, having a brokenpediment bonnet top with turned urn finials, shell front blocking to the doors and fall front surface, the interiors fitted with multiple compartments, lower case with three drawers and rising on bracket feet. Marked "Kindel, GrandRapids", and "Winterthur Reproduction". Approx. h. 98", w. 45.75", d. 26.25".
Condition Report: Wear commensurate with age and light use. Scattered wear to edges, scratch to center of drop front panel, minor scuffing to feet. Crack to right side molding (on top of lower case) with a small dent below crack.
