Cal. 32 RF. S# 37411. Bbl. 6". Round brass blade front sight. This gun is documented by serial number as having been issued to the 2nd Minnesota infantry regiment. The 2nd Minnesota fought in the Western Theater & was present in many battles including Perryville, Chickamauga & Missionary Ridge Matching assembly numbers on bbl. and cyl. Mother of pearl grips. The left side of the bbl. is marked "KITTREDGE/CINN" for the Kittredge Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. Kittredge was a sporting goods retailer that sold to both public and government customers, including the state of Kentucky. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: period leather holster in worn condition & an article by Robert Sands on S&W Kittredge guns. The article lists this revolver by serial as being issued to the 2nd Minnesota regiment. CONDITION: grips display a poor fit with a few chips, some dings, and handling wear. Metal has a mostly gray patina with scattered pitting, oxidation, and dings. Pitted bore. PROVENANCE: from the lifelong collection of Robert "Mike" Bricker. (01-25038/MJC). ANTIQUE. $600-800.
