KOL BO, VENICE 1567 – COPY WITH OWNERSHIP INSCRIPTIONS OF RABBI TEVELE SHEIER (1711-1783), DAYAN AND ROSH YESHIVA OF FRANKFURT, AND HIS SON RABBI MICHEL SHEIER.

Rabbi Tevele Sheier and his son Rabbi Michel were teachers of the Chasam Sofer.

Early halachic compendium, including one of the earliest commentaries to the Passover Haggadah.

Rabbi Yaakov Moshe David Tevele Sheier, disciple of Rabbi Yaakov HaCohen – Shev Yaakov of Frankfurt. Dayan and Rosh Yeshiva in Frankfurt, Rabbi of Bamberg (1759) and Mainz (1767), where Rabbi Nassan Adler sent his student Rabbi Moshe Sofer (the Chasam Sofer) to study at his Yeshiva, which was then run mainly by his son Rabbi Michel, later Rabbi of Worms and Mannheim and author of many manuscript writings.

4, 158 pp. Missing pages 154, 155 and 158 which have been completed in an old hand.
20.5x29 cm. Good condition. Slight worming affecting some pages. Small tear on pages 136-7 not affecting text. New leather binding.
