KU KLUX KLAN ROBE AND HOOD
Description:
Bright white cotton Ku Klux Klan hood, robe, cape and rope belt, likely post-World War II. The hood displays a vibrant red tassel at the tip and crudely cut eye openings, with stiff mesh interior. The full-length robe bears an embroidered Knights of Camellia emblem sewn to the left breast, fastened with five white bone-colored buttons. Accompanied by a detached cape, approx. 26 in. long. Also present is the white cotton belt with tassels at either end. No markings appear to indicate size, etc. No stains or tears, overall a clean and fine example. Sold with a May, 1963 edition of the racist newspaper ‘The Thunderbolt The White Man's Viewpoint', 12pp. sm. folio, with the headline ‘JFK ACCUSED OF ADULTERY'. Stories in the paper, include: ‘NSRP OPPOSES KING', What if whites had rioted the way Negroes have', DER STRUMER IS BACK WE SALUTE JULIUS STREICHER', and more.
