KYOHEI FUJITA, (Japan, 1921-2004), Covered Glass Box with Gold, Silver and Platinum Leaf decoration. Blown colorless covered glass box internally decorated with red orange and white glass; surfaces decorated with gold leaf and silver leaf; rims of the cover and base mounted with silvered metal; 4 inches wide, 4 inches deep and 4 inches high; lightly engraved signature under the base KYOHEI. Condition: Glass and Metal rims excellent; some apparent loss of gold leaf on the top of the cover. Fujita was one of the pioneer glassmakers in Japan from 1949. The Kyohei Fujita Museum of Glass, dedicated to his work, opened in Matsushima in 1996. He became recognized as a National Living Treasure in Japan in 1997.
