Kabin 花瓶 (Flower vessel) - Copper - Tsuchiya Kyohei (1911-1985) - Very large and fine modern vase with linear and rugged motifs, signed - Japan - Shōwa period (1926-1989)

Here it is a tall ovoid form vase by prominent artist Tsuchiya Kyohei. Ornamented with linear and rugged motifs in geometric portions. Signed with a chiseled signature on the reverse by the artist. Tsuchiya Kyohei was born in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture in 1911. He graduated from the Kagawa Prefectural Craft School and after that studied metal art under Kitahara Senroku. He exhibited and won prizes at numerous exhibitions, before in 1938 he was accepted into the Imperial Art Exhibitions for the first time, at the 2nd Shin-Bunten. After the Pacific War, he returned to metal crafting and exhibited at the 6th Nitten in 1950, where he was afterwards a frequent participant. Tsuchiya Kyohei died in 1985, when he was 74 years old.
