Kamagurka - Untitled

[ translate ]

Kamagurka, the pseudonym of Luc Charles Zeebroek (Nieuwpoort, 1956) , is mainly famous as a cartoonist. For years he has been making a daily drawing for the front page of NRC Handelsblad, in which he responds to the news in a humorous, sometimes shocking way.
\r
Kamagurka is known for his inimitable absurdism. Humor is the guiding principle in his repertoire, which includes more than drawings: since his exhibition Tour de Trance in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam (2002) , he has started painting more and more. His work fluctuates between the contradictions of the absurd, the dormant fantasies of surrealism, the childlike exuberance of Cobra, the effectiveness of the Flemish clear line, the mystery of the image, the mutual dependence of image and language and the anti-authoritarian aggression of the Punk.
