This litho is a beautiful abstract composition full of vibrant colors. It is a very nice example of Northern European expressionism. The most interesting feature of the artwork is the high contrast between different colors and between pure black and bright colors. Karel Appel is one of the most important exponents of European expressionism. In 1948, he founded the Co. Br. A movement.
