Karl Wiedmann - WMF / Geislingen - Vase

[ translate ]

Rare model from 1933. A rare orange-red surface. This Myra crystal from the Wurtembergische Metalwaren Fabrik (WMF) is named after the city of Myra in Turkey. In that Roman city, a lot of glass has been excavated that, after being buried in the soil for hundreds of years, became iridescent in a metallic way due to the effect of the salts in the earth on the glass. This metallic reflection was also wanted for the Myra crystal. The very thin crystal was heated several times in the oven. It was stained and reductive fired with silver oxides. All in all a complicated manual and time consuming process. We ship all your purchases well-packaged with track & trace. You can also pick up your purchase in our shop Het Ware Huis in Lage Mierde. We have been a trusted dealer of Art Deco and Art Nouveau since 1997.
