Circa 13th century AD
Crafted in an inverted pear shape on a circular foot, this jug features a tubular neck connected to its shoulder via an arched strap handle. The body is covered with lustrous cobalt blue glaze, while its foot remains unglazed.
The city of Kashan reached the pinnacle of its ceramic production during the Islamic Golden Age, particularly between the 12th and 14th centuries. Kashan ceramics are characterized by their intricate patterns, often inspired by nature, and the skilled use of turquoise and cobalt glazes.
