A pictorial Kashan rug featuring a garden design. The white field topped by a wide upper arch is completely filled by a large tree flanked by two smaller trees. A lion appears at the lower end of the field, and birds perch in the densely leafed branches laden with fruit. Inscribed in beautiful calligraphy, the border surrounding the field probably cites traditional verses from the rich repertoire of Persian poetry. – Damage to the lower left corner, torn upper right corner, sides curled inwards, slightly damaged selvedges. Pile in good condition.
