Kate Greenaway Book, Signed Letter C.1889, Rare
This rare Victorian English children's illustrated songbook is by noted artist Kate Greenaway with music by Myles B. Foster. It was puplished in 1881 by George Routledge and Sons, London. It has a hand written and signed letter from Kate Greenway to Lady Lindsay (Caroline Fitzroy Lindsay 1844-1912) a noted English poet, novelist, and painter dated June 6th 1889, glued to an interior page as well as information regarding a rare proof print on satin printed by Marcus Ward printmakers and dating from around 1871 in the beginning of the book. There is a later protective book cover, probably from the 1930's that protects the book with Kate Greenway embossed in gold on the jacket. It measures 10" tall X 8.5" across.
