Käthe Strenitz, British/Czech 1923-2017- Two card folios of figure studies, 1987-88; graphite on paper, one folio with 17 sheets, the other folio with 8 sheets, each sheet signed 'Kathe Strenitz', some dated, each 42 x 29.7 cm (25) (ARR) (unframed) Provenance: The Estate of the Artist; thence by descent. Note: Born in Czechoslovakia, Strenitz moved to England in 1939. She was awarded a British Council Scholarship to the Regent Street Polytechnic School of Art on the recommendation of Oskar Kokoschka. Over the course of her career, she showed at several galleries, notably Boundary Gallery, Bankside Gallery, and Ben Uri. Her work is in the collection of the London Metropolitan Archives, the National Museum of Wales, and the Museum of London.
All unframed. Folds and creases to the sheets consistent with handling. Some tears/losses to the sheets, particularly towards the corners. Spots of foxing, discolouration, marks, and surface dirt generally. Otherwise in fair condition overall.
