Katherine Henick Chinoiserie Table

A mid-20th century black lacquered coffee table featuring hand-painted Chinoiserie decoration. The rectangular piece is constructed with a recessed top panel surrounded by a raised molded perimeter. The top surface is decorated with a detailed Orientalist landscape containing a red four-tiered pagoda, a figure in traditional attire crossing a green arched bridge, a gnarled tree with green foliage, and flowering branches. The apron on all four sides continues the narrative with landscape vignettes including figures in boats, pavilions, and bridges. The table is supported by four square, straight legs, each detailed with a simple incised horizontal band near the base.
