Condition Report:
This work was examined framed. The canvas is supported by a loose lining so it is not possible to see the reverse. Inspection under UV light reveals a thick, milky and uneven varnish through which UV light cannot fully penetrate, but does reveal spots, lines and areas of retouching largely towards the edges and to the red background in the upper half of the composition. There are possible further retouchings not visible through the varnish layer. There is frame abrasion with associated pigment losses to the extreme edges. There are fine lines of craquelure and paint shrinkage in places. This work is in overall good condition.
