Condition Report:
The canvas is not lined but the edges are taped. Inspection under UV light reveals a thick, milky and uneven varnish through which UV light cannot fully penetrate but does reveal some spots of historic retouching largely to lines of craquelure. There is likley further retouching not visible through the varnish. There is paint shrinkage and several lines of craquelure to the composition, including a small area of lifting paint to the woman's hair. There is minor frame abrasion to the extreme edges. There is a tiny pinhole to the centre of the lower edge and a few pinprick losses in places. The canvas is undulating. This work is in overall good condition.
