Keith Shackleton (England, 1923-2015) oil on board painting depicting a seagull flying over turbulent waves. Signed "Keith Shackleton '79" lower right. Housed in a custom painted wood frame with a linen matte. Sight: 23 1/2" H x 35 1/4" W. Framed: 29 1/2" H x 41 1/2" W. Artist Biography: Keith Shackleton was born in England in 1923 and began traveling at a young age when his family moved to Australia. He later served in the Royal Air Force and painted scenes of war and the coastal naval forces. He continued to travel for work after the war, painting all throughout his life. Later, he gained recognition in Great Britain for his wildlife and nature scenes, but remained principally a marine painter. He served as president of the Royal Society of Marine Arts and the Society of Wildlife Artists, and was Chairman of the Artists' League of Britain.

Deaccessioned by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts Foundation to benefit the acquisitions fund.
Condition Report: Overall excellent condition with very light craquelure in the sky portion of the work. Frame with paint loss.
