"Daddy's Figurines & Keepsakes The County Fair Collection", "Kelly" long legs figurine, Limited Edition, '# JE/660, hand painted hardwood resin + cloth pants, 1997. Created by RVK, Inc Southlake, Texas. Handmade in China.

Karen Germany of Southlake, Texas, began making long legs dolls in the late 1980s. These are African-American dolls that have dangly legs and come wearing a variety of historical and themed outfits. She first made primitive dolls as a hobby in 1979 and began selling them at local arts and craft shows in 1989. Daddy's long legs dolls were conceived and by 1992 were recognized as an award-winning American made collectible doll. Since then Daddy's long legs has earned a fine reputation across the globe the artist claims, "The real fun is in creating a certain appeal with the dolls image, the clothing, the tiny accessories and especially his or her name." Daddy Long Legs dolls were produced only until the early 2000s. Sadly, the company has retired Daddy's long legs collection in July 2003. Most of the dolls were made in the 1990s and Karen Germany would break the mold, making them collector's items.
