The subject is depicted half length in profile, with sweeping modernist strokes to background and clothing, wearing a pendant; 19.5" x 15.5" (sight) 27" x 23" (framed).
Accompanying the lot is a biography on the artist;ÿSpirit of the North: The Art of Paul Ziegler by Woodward, Kesler.ÿ 1998.ÿ A work illustrated in the publication on pg. 9 is almost certainly the same figure, as Ziegler was known to have taken on favored subjects for his portraits of Alaskan Natives.ÿ A very fine example.
