Item/Description: Color woodblock "The Heron Maiden" (Sagi musume) from the series, An Array of Dancing Girls of the Present Day (Tosei odoriko zoroe). Ukiyo-e woodblock print, okubi-e (bust portrait).
Kitagawa Utamaro (1750-1806) was a Japanese artist considered to be the foremost ukiyo-e artist of the late 18th Century. His early work focused on actor portraits and theater programs. He gained immense fame for his single portraits of idealized females in his beautiful women series.

Material: Print framed and matted under glass. Wood frame has bamboo motif.

Dimensions: Image size: Height: 15"; Width: 10". Framed: Height: 22 1/4"; Width: 16 1/2".

Condition: Wear to frame. Art has not been examined out of frame.

Age: Unknown.
