Klotz & Kienast International Automobile and Motor-Cycle Exhibition vintage poster
Caption Brief: "The Third Reich's predisposition for monumentalism is fully displayed in this Klotz and Kienast poster for the 1939 Berlin International Automobile and Motorcycle Exhibition. The glowing Ausstellungshalle (exhibition hall), its searchlights beaming, towers above the globe, dominated by a Mercedes-Benz W154 (on the left) and an Auto Union Type D V16 (on the right)—the symbols of German automotive superiority...While the artwork may indulge in a bit of artistic overstatement, the 1939 show was actually rather massive, filling not one but nine enormous exhibition halls located near the Witzleben train station" (The Art Deco Poster, Crouse, p. 69).
