Knives in Sterling Silver and Mother of Pearl early 19th - Restauration - .950 silver - First half 19th century

Superb lot of 6 knives with the original case intended for 12 knives, sterling silver blades and trim, ‘old man’ 1st grade hallmark 1819-1838, Paris large warranty hallmark and silversmith’s mark of Charles Gavet, great silversmith and cutler to the kings of the Restoration period. Richly decorated on the trim, the mother-of-pearl handles are decorated with a monogrammed silver crest. In good overall condition with some signs of use, a small lack of mother-of-pearl on one handle (see photos) , some wear to the case. Size: approximately 20. 5 cm long.
