In 1922, Konstantin Gorbatov emigrated to Capri and moved there for four years, until he moved to Berlin in 1926. This mediterranian view, captured from a balcony, was probably created during this period.
We would like to thank Dr Olga Sugrobova-Roth, Düsseldorf, who examined the original painting, for confirming that it is an authentic work by the artist. The painting will be included in the catalogue raisonné, which is currently being prepared.
