Koroit Boulder Opal Split Pair Elusive Mine, Koroit opal field Paroo Shire, Queensland Australia Offering a glimpse into the natural landscape of Australia, this one-of-a-kind Opal pair, resembling a set of nocturnal eyes, consists of two sizable cut and polished Koroit Boulder Opals. Originating from a single nodule, this pair has been bisected to reveal veins of electric Australian Opal, which can be seen emanating throughout an earthy brown Ironstone matrix reminiscent of an iris and pupil. Concentric banding of dark and light-toned Ironstone creates a hypnotic pattern further enhanced by pockets of bright Opal seen throughout. Prized for their durability and unique patterns, each nodule has been polished all the way around with a primary display face and a total weight of 2,750 grams. These are dense and thick with a metallic sheen, and the Opal has a striking purple and blue coloration. The combination is awe-inspiring, and each nodule on its own is visually impactful, but the pair together is altogether something else. Larger Half Measurements: 5.31 x 3.74 x 2.88 inches (13.50 x 9.49 x 7.31 cm) Provenance: Ex. Rod Griffin HID09710052018 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
