Kunzite Nuristan Province Afghanistan This curved blade of the lilac variety of Spodumene known as Kunzite looks a bit like a hand axe. The shape is very interesting, but the thin and significantly striated crystal exhibits classic color and does come from Afghanistan known for producing quality examples. The mineral is light-sensitive, and will lose color through fading if overexposed to sunlight. This 'frosty' example is opaque near the bottom, and becomes more translucent towards the tip, then glassy on the top edges. Overall, this is a very large Kunzite crystal. Overall Measurements: 10.24 x 4.69 x 0.57 inches (26.00 x 11.90 x 1.45 cm) Provenance: Central Coast Collection [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
