Kurt Schwitters, (1887-1948 - 1948) is a German painter and sculptor who embodied the individualist and anarchist spirit of the dada movement. He studied painting and drawing from 1909 to 1914 at the academy of Dresden then at the academy in Berlin and participated in the magazine Der Sturm in Berlin. After 1922, Schwitters connected with the constructivists Theo van Doesburg and El Lissitsky. He published the magazine Merz between 1923 and 1932 with them. After 1937, he left Germany for Norway. In Germany, his works were removed from museums and were exhibited in the “exposition de l'Art dégénéré” in Munich.
