(some min. browning and very sm. dampstaining at some margins). - First and only edition of this Parisian apothecaries' guide by the French army doctor, advisor to the King and Professor at the Collège de France La Framboisière (1560-1636). The work is divided into nine parts corresponding to the different types of medicine a pharmacy should have (syrups, opiates, oils, etc.). The text alternates between Latin and French depending on the subject. La Framboisière makes clear in his introduction that the things a doctor should know are explained in Latin, but recipes for perfumers he will explain in French as he thinks the majority of perfumers are ignorant of Latin. - Ref.
