LARGE BRONZE KANNON FIGURE.
Origin: Japan.
Date: Probably Meiji period or later.
Technique: Patinated bronze, cloisonné.
Description: The deity of compassion and mercy in an upright posture on a lotus-shaped pedestal with a
central nodus. The drooping right hand in raigon, in the raised left hand the amrita
bottle. The crown with Buddha Amitabha rests on the head. The chest with rich chain
jewellery. The robe with coloured cloisonné, elaborate pleating with cords and knots.
