LARGE GROUP OF FIGURES “Allegory of Love” Probably Thuringia. Late 19th century. Bisque porcelain. A young woman dressed in classical attire sits on a round, relief-decorated, and architecturally structured pedestal. She is surrounded by two cherubs (putti); the cherub on the right reaches for a rose held in her raised hand, while the cherub on the left looks up at her. At her feet is a lavish relief decoration featuring rose petals and a classical jug with a handle. The elaborately designed pedestal is adorned all around with a meander band and festoons of roses, centered by a sculpted head of Envy with a laurel wreath. Underside unmarked; blind-engraved model number 3248 and mold number 31. H: approx. 54 cm. Chipping on the delicate rose petals; otherwise in beautiful condition, consistent with its age.
