Large Japanese Satsuma porcelain lidded jar, early 20th century, having a Fu lion finial surmounting a domed lid, above a baluster form jar with Fu Lion handles, the body decorated with samurai in elaborate armor and court robes on a floral and geometric patterned ground with morriage, resting on a base with four lion head legs, having a faux Hotoda mark underneath.
Approximate dimensions: h. 36.5", dia. 19.75".
Condition Report: Only vestiges of gilt remain on finial and handles, finial with a 3-4" manufacturing flaw underneath, shoulder with a 6" manufacturing flaw, interior rim having (2) 3" hairlines, and the underside of base with (1) 1" hairline, overall
