8vo, printed by Giovanni Mardersteig in Dante type, original pink printed wrappers

This was printed by Mardersteig in a small limitation (a maximum of 75 copies) for presentation to members of the Double Crown Club at their 150th Dinner. Lawrence's letter of August 1910 discusses the reading of books in general, and in particular the French books in which he was then engrossed. The exclusive Double Crown Club was formed in the 1920s, bringing together a select band of printers, publishers, book designers and illustrators for regular lunches and events. Menus, invitations, books and printed ephemera have been exclusively designed by members over the years for use and distribution at the club's dinners and talks.
