MATERNITÉ AU BOUQUET
signé Lepho et signé en Chinois (en bas à gauche)
huile sur soie marouflée sur isorel
55,1 x 40,6 cm; 21⅝ x 16 in.
Peint vers 1950-60.
Condition Report:
It has not been possible to examine the work out of its frame. Oil on silk laid down on masonite. Examination under UV light reveals no evidence of retouching. There are areas of paint shrinkage associated with paint losses in places, most predominately to the most thickly applied pigments. There is a small scratch (approx. 4 cm long) associated with paint loss to the signature. There are a few additional spots of paint losses, notably towards the lower right corner, to the centre of the left edge and to the right flowers. There are a few humidity marks in places, notably to the lady’s proper left hand (as visible in the catalogue illustration). There is some minor light staining. This work is in overall good condition.
