LE PHO, FRENCH-VIETNAMESE (1907-01), OIL ON CANVAS, H 30", W 21", FLEURS Signed lower right in Roman Letters and Chinese Characters. Wally Findlay Gallery label on verso. Provenance: Purchased by Gertrude Knowles 8/29/73 from Findlay Galleries, Chicago. By descent to her niece, Ann Arbor, MI. Gertrude Knowles (1899-1976) was a Chicago Icon: Mrs. Knowles was the Secretary-Treasurer and a Director of the Chicago Stadium Corp. as well as an official of the Chicago Blackhawks Hockey Team. She was the widow of Hector Knowles, Manager of Chuck Davey, Spider Webb, and other legendary boxers of the 1950's. Included in the purchase is the Original Bill of Sale, Cash Reciept, brochure, and biographical folder from Findlay Galleries. Paperwork held in the gallery office.
Condition Report: In original untouched condition. Retains its original cardboard backing and frame. No inpaint or restoration evident when viewed under UV light. JW
