ROSES ON GILDED VASE by LEON LEDRU of Val St. Lambert depicts sculpted Roses etched into a guided gold-bronze patina on deep cobalt blue hand-blown crystal. The vase is acid-etched with a bronze patina encrustation that does not tarnish and tests 7-9 Karat Gold on my digital gold tester. The background design has an angular Oriental influence. Execution on the overlay and definition between leaves is crisp and exact.; Leon Ledru (1855-1926) was head of Crystal Creations for Val St. Lambert from 1888-1926. Interestingly, Rene Lalique studied with the Ledru Brothers in his earlier years and married into the Ledru family.; The Val Saint Lambert glass works was founded in 1825 on the site of a former Cistercian Abbey of the same name near Liege, Belgium. VSL is renowned worldwide for its quality and aesthetic designs, The works of VSL and Leon Ledru can be found in Museum and private collections throughout the world.; This is a very heavy vase weighing almost 3 pounds measuring 10" tall by 4" at its widest.; Signed "Val St Lambert, Belgique" in relief.; Pristine Condition! (no cracks/hairlines); Circa: Art Nouveau Era
