This French film was François Truffaut's first film as a director. He also co-wrote it with Marcel Moussy. The film is considered one of the defining films of the French New Wave. François Truffaut loved Hisamitsu Noguchi's artwork on this poster so much that he used it in his 1962 film Love at Twenty/L’amour à Vingt Ans, where it featured on the bedroom wall of Antoine Doinel (Jean-Pierre Léaud). The artwork for this poster was also used on a book about Truffaut. This exceptionally rare Japanese poster has only surfaced a few times in over twenty years.
