L'Escalier de Cristal - Baccarat - Vase, japonism - Bronze (gilt), Crystal - Second half 19th century

[ translate ]

Gorgeous crystal bowl/vase "crescent moon" with enamelled floral decoration, with a gilt bronze base, beautifully chiselled, simulating apple tree branches in bloom. This high-quality piece, with finely worked enamel, is the result of the collaboration between Baccarat crystal and L’Escalier de Cristal, a large Parisian Maison, founded in 1804. The base has a stamp that is not very legible, corresponding to the one Baccarat affixed to the strictly identical bases of pieces made for L’Escalier de Cristal. The decor is the purest expression of Japonism, a French artistic current initiated in the wake of the 1867 Universal Exhibition, during which Japan presented a national pavilion for the first time: seduced, Henri Pannier, owner of L'Escalier de Cristal, encouraged many artists, including Emile Gallé and Gabriel Viardot, to produce pieces inspired by Japanese productions. Good condition, no lacks in the décor, note a small chip visible in the last photo taken in close-up. Ad valorem shipping.
