LINK (Henry Frederick)
VOYAGE en Portugal depuis 1797 jusqu'en 1799. Suivi d'un Essai sur le Commerce du Portugal, traduit de l' Allemand. A Paris: Chez Levrault, Schoell et Cie, 1803-1808.

3 v.; xvi, 432, [2] pp., 1 mapa; [4], iv, 396 pp.; [4], viii, 338 pp.; 200 mm.

French translation of this work by a famous German naturalist, born on February 2, 1769 and graduated in natural sciences from the universities of Rostock and Breslau, held the chair of botany at the University of Berlin and director of the Garden of Plants. The author traveled through France and Spain, and made a tour of Portugal, the latter being the main objective of the trip. It contains countless interesting and curious observations about our country. The entry through Elvas prompted several favorable judgments from the author in comparison with the Spanish inhabitants, referring, in particular, to the clothing, general disposition and friendliness (pp. 130-131). It is also worth highlighting the first impact that entering Lisbon had on him. Interesting observations about Coimbra, Porto and Douro wine region. Extensive exhibitions about the Algarve region.
