(A) 1736 New York City indenture docketed by James De Lancey, 1703-1760, as Chief Justice of the Province of New York, just 1 year after presiding over the trial of John Peter Zenger, charged with libel by Governor William Cosby and found not guilty in a landmark case for freedom of the press. CONDITION: Very good. (B) 1790 release for land sold by Peter Monfoort of Flushing. Paper. CONDITION: Poor; separations. (C) Probate of will of Francis Ford. CONDITION: Poor. Torn at right edge. (D) 1850 mortgage. 3 sheets. British. CONDITION: Excellent. Very displayable. (E) 1537 dated indenture marked on reverse with information for the Prior of Worcester.
