LOT OF 6: BOOKS REGARDING NAPOLEON BONAPARTE, EX LATTIMER COLLECTION.

[ translate ]

Lot consists of: (A) London, Henry Colburn, 1835. An illustrated edition of the 4 volume memoir of Napoleon Bonaparte by the Count De Las Cases. Gilt title to spine. A fascinating memoir of Napoleon Bonaparte, providing insight into his daily life as well as his entourage, chiefs of staff, and many campaigns. Written by Emmanuel-Augustin-Dieudonné-Joseph, the Count De Las Cases, famed for his admiring book of Napoleon "Le Memorial de Sainte Helene" (1823). Having accompanied Napoleon to Saint Helena, Las Cases acted informally as his secretary, compiling numerous notes of his conversations. It is claimed Las Cases' work should be read with great caution as he did not hesitate to insert his own thoughts into his work, sometimes misstating facts and even fabricating documents. Shelf wear exhibited with scattered blemishes to covers and worn edges. Pages exhibit areas of foxing with stains from page inserts. (B) The French Revolution Collection of British Authors in 3 volumes, Tauchnitz, 1851. Covers of volumes I and II are separated. Obvious wear with blemishes, loose pieces, cracked leather, etc. Pages intact with scattered blemishes. All books former Dr. John K. Lattimer Collection. CONDITION: Fair-good.
