LOT OF DOCUMENTS FROM MARQUIS DE LAFAYETTE AND COUNT PAUL DE LAFAYETTE, EX-LATTIMER.

Lot consists of pieces of ephemera regarding Marquis de Lafayette including 2/3 page, 4to letter in French signed "Lafayette". La Grange, May 9, 1831, to Mr. Duponceau about furnishing a certificate from the mayor of Nancy for the use of a traveler (taped to a larger sheet that reads "From the Collection of Hon Robt Warren). 2 - 1/4 page 4to with signature cut out. Written in English, Oak Hill, Aug.8, 1825, to Morgan Neville at Cincinnati, addressed on verso of the second leaf and postmarked, an interesting letter on personal and financial affairs, touching upon Lafayette's tour of the US, "The minificent gift of Congress has been emply'd part in clearing our family fortune, hundred and twenty thousand dollars as Capital in the U.S. Loan at 4% of which I recieve only the Revenue, and I have had about six thousand dollars to pay to prescribed European patriots, to a remuneration of old service...so that in making up my account I find no money of which I can now dispose. But I have mortgages to offer, particularly now, as the patent for the township has been two days ago signed by the President..." (seal tear and with large hole where the signature was extracted). Group of 8 ALS of his descendent, the Count Paul M. De Lafayette, Mount Vernon, N.Y. 1925, all to WM. Lanier Washington, collateral descendent of George Washington, consisting of correspondence about selling memorabilia of a General Lafayette in the U.S., with 1 original envelope and an ADS of Count De Lafayette, directing Washington to sell memorabilia of General Lafayette, as well as another ADS 1925 dated receipt for proceeds of sale of 4 pieces of Lafayette's table service.
