A GILT-BRASS GIANT GRANDE SONNERIE REPEATING CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH CHRONOMETER ESCAPEMENT, PARIS, CIRCA 1860

engine-turned silvered dial plate, lunar aperture with phase and date, signed in a cartouche Ls Berthoud, the three train movement with spring detent platform escapement, split bi-metallic compensation balance, the spring with overcoil and regulator, grande or petite sonnerie striking on two bells, the cadrature mounted on the backplate, strike selection lever below the bells, the Empire-style case with swan handle, fluted Corinthian-capped pilasters, bevel-glazed panels and knurled feet

28cm. 11in. high (handle down)

Condition Report:
Dial in good condition but silvering is rather tarnished. Movement is complete and just running at time of cataloguing but is very much in need of a clean, service and fresh oil. Case in generally good condition throughout with some minor discolouration and marking to the gilding. No winder.
